The research Group of Medieval and Renaissance Studies (GEMYR) was founded in 2005 by the professors of the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED, Spain's National Distance Education University) Francisco Javier Vergara Ciordia (Faculty of Education) and Francisco Calero Calero (Faculty of Philology).
The creation of GEMYR responds to the noble desire, through research and reflection, to recover the humanistic culture for the world today.
To promote the recovery of medieval and Renaissance written sources, scarcely known or even unpublished ones, that have played a role in the configuration of western thought in the realms of education and culture.
A rigorous investigation of the sources. An iterdisciplinary approach to research. Publishing of selected critical editions. All these define as well the the Collectio scriptorum mediaevalium et renascentium.
